An extremely rare white whale calf has been filmed swimming with its mother off the coast of WA’s South West



The white whale and its calf was filmed off the coast of Augusta


The video of the southern right whale calf was recorded by scientists from Murdoch University utilizing a machine close Augusta.

Murdoch's Cetacean Research Unit is working with experts from Denmark's Aarhus University to consider the progression and correspondence of whales, and besides calf suckling rates.

Machines were flown over the whales and their calves permitting scientists to gage their body size and health.Dr Fredrik Christiansen said "robots are permitting us to non-conspicuously measure the size and body state of free living southern right whales, which along these lines permits us to explore key parts of their thriving and extension, including the change rate of calves in relationship with the state of their moms."

Instructor Lar Bedjer said little was known concerning the area and change of southern right whales.

"Our point is not just to consider the behavioral environment of these astounding creatures, besides to offer data to industry and association towards conservationIt is not known whether this whale calf is the same one spotted by visit supervisors in Augusta in July.

That calf was named Pearl by inhabitants and was seen swimming 50m from the shore.

Southern right whales reliably go to the range this time of year to envision a descendants before coming back to their home waters in Antarctica.In October a year earlier Department of Parks and Wildlife staff part Peter Nicholas shot to some degree white whale swimming close to the Fitzgerald River National Park
