Jealous NSW boyfriend guilty of murder
A desirous NSW man who harmed his on-off sweetheart five times in the neck and left her to come up short pitiably in a "scene of butcher" has been discovered responsible of homicide.
Michael James Quinn brutally executed Cherie Vize, 25, in the front yard of his Wollongong family home before turning the bleeding edge on himself, in July 2013, surrendering him quadriplegic.
Ms Vize, who had been going out with Quinn for around three years, had gone for a cigarette outside Quinn's family home in Wollongong when she was assaulted by her right hand.
Quinn 's mother Joanne tried to intervene.
"I saw blood and Michael with a sharp edge," she said while giving assertion at the judge-alone trial.
"I turned and looked and I saw that blood was spilling out from the side of her neck.
"When I saw the blood I ordinarily related and put my hand on the harm to attempt and stop the surge of blood. As I did Cherie fallen onto the ground on her back."
Quinn then cut himself twice in the waist and once in the neck with a touch of paring bleeding edge.
The OCD sufferer, who used to tactlessly shower and scour his legs, is in a matter of seconds quadriplegic.
"I can't trust I missed my heart," he told his mom as he lay hurt on the ground with a neighbor holding a towel to his neck.
Quinn denied killing Ms Vize and told the court she had been harmed while attempting to keep him from harming himself.
"The blamed imparted that he assumed that it would be best for the passed on the off chance that he, that is the charged, took his own particular life as that would "permit Cherie to be allowed to do whatever she required," Justice Robert Beech-Jones said.
He told the court he had run separate courses with Ms Vize as he obliged her to be free from him and their dangerous relationship.
